Spindle Adjustments
Your new drill press comes fitted with a depth
stop for use when drilling. Follow the instruc-
tions below for use.
1.
Loosen the jam nut on the depth stop rod.
Figure 18.
2.
Adjust the spindle down while watching the
indicator arrow on the scale on the front of
the drill press and stop at the desired depth.
3.
Turn the lower nut while maintaining this
depth until the nut comes into contact with
the stop flange. Figure 19.
4.
Allow the spindle to return to its original
position and tighten the jam nut against the
stop nut while making sure the stop nut does
not move. Figure 20.
Drill a hole into scrap stock before drilling into
any workpiece to insure the depth has been set
correctly. If needed, follow the steps above to
adjust depth stop.
The depth stop for drilling must be adjusted
before using the oscillating feature. If the
depth stop is left shallow, damage will occur
to the oscillating mechanism. Check spindle
movement to ensure depth indicator travels
beyond the red area on the depth scale before
installing the oscillating belt.
